EAGLE HUNTERS AND THE GOLDEN EAGLE FESTIVAL 15 DAYS / 14 NIGHTS TOUR ITINERARY DESCRIPTION
Bayan Ulgii is home to the Kazakhs, a Muslim tribe that has preserved the ancient tradition of eagle hunting to this day. In addition to this rich cultural heritage, the region boasts the stunning Altai Mountain Range, with its breathtaking landscapes. The Kazakhs continue to practice the age-old tradition of hunting with golden eagles. Skilled hunters capture these magnificent birds of prey from their nests at a young age, training them throughout the summer months. As winter approaches, the birds are deliberately starved to prepare them for the hunt. These majestic creatures are used for hunting until they reach approximately 15 years of age, at which point they are released back into the wild.
The Eagle Festival is an annual celebration held in Bayan-Ulgii province, Mongolia. During this event, Kazakh eagle hunters honor their heritage and compete in catching small animals, such as foxes and hares, with their specially trained golden eagles. The festival showcases both the hunting skills of the birds and the expertise of their trainers. Awards are given for speed, agility, and accuracy, as well as for the best traditional Kazakh attire and other categories.
In 2018, the Eagle Festival will take place from October 6-8. The festivities occur against a dramatic backdrop of dark, rocky mountains and include an opening ceremony, parade, cultural exhibitions, demonstrations, and handcrafted goods in the town center of Ulgii. Following these, sporting activities and competitions will take place a short distance out in the mountains. Participants, dressed in full eagle hunting regalia and mounted on beautifully adorned horses, will compete for awards such as Best Turned Out Eagle and Owner, Best Eagle at Hunting Prey, and Best Eagle at Locating Its Owner from a Distance. Other exciting activities will include horse racing, archery, and the thrilling Bushkashi—a tug of war with goatskin while on horseback. VIKTOR BOLD TOUR will be present at this event, providing its own camp equipped with showers, toilets, and a chef to ensure excellent meals for our guests. We prioritize finding the best viewing spots for our tourists, and VIKTOR BOLD TOUR has arrangements in place to ensure you enjoy a fantastic experience.

KHUVSGUL LAKE & TSAATAN TRIBE TOUR 15 DAYS/16 NIGHTS
TOUR ITINERARY
The Tsaatan are a community of nomadic reindeer herders from Tuva in Siberia, historically residing in the border region between Russia and Mongolia. Ethnically, they identify as Dukha and Uighar; however, their reindeer herding lifestyle has earned them the Mongolian name Tsaatan, which translates to "people with reindeer." For millennia, the Tsaatan have relied on domesticated reindeer for nearly all their essential needs, including milk for sustenance, skins for clothing, and antlers for tools. They supplement their diet with wild game, nuts, berries, and the flora of the taiga. Reindeer also serve as riding and pack animals in the rugged landscape they inhabit. Domesticated thousands of years ago, reindeer are integral to the community's spiritual, socio-economic, and linguistic traditions.
Viktor Bold's tour offers an immersive experience in northern Mongolia, the homeland of the Tsaatan and the shamans of the forest. Over four days, you will live with a Tsaatan family, gaining firsthand insight into their daily lives and nomadic culture.
